And now for our last senior spotlight! Claire began dancing with Dancenter at the age of 6 years old. She started with hip hop and eventually began studying jazz, ballet, Latin, contemporary, modern and joined our Company! Hip hop has always held a special connection for her. She will be moving to Santa Barbara where she will be attending SBCC studying business. Way to go Claire! Good luck with all your adventures!

Senior Spotlight time! Meet Shayne! Shayne has bee

Senior Spotlight time! Meet Shayne! Shayne has been dancing at Dancenter since the 1st grade, and since the age of 6 has taken a wide array of classes from hip hop to tap, ballet, modern, jazz, Latin & belly dance. As long as Shayne’s dancing, she’s having fun! Shayne will be graduating from PCCS this spring and in the fall she will begin the start of college here at Cabrillo College, and will continue to dance at Cabrillo and Dancenter! Congrats Shayne!!

It’s Senior Spotlight time!! Meet Sofia! Sofia h

It’s Senior Spotlight time!! Meet Sofia! Sofia has been dancing for 12 years. However she more recently joined Dancenter 3 years ago. She has studied Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Latin, and Hip hop. She is a member of Company Brio and DBDC at Dancenter! She also is the Captain of the Santa Cruz High Dance team. Performing has always been Sofias passion, being on the stage is where she feels most at home. She has been involved in a large number of musical theater productions as well. In fact, she will be performing in Cabrillo Stage’s In the Heights this summer! In the fall, Sofia will be attending Chico State University as a part of the Honors program. She plans to major in Sociology and Minor in dance. Congrats Sofia! You are amazing!!

Senior Spotlight time! Meet Amelia! Amelia has been dancing with Dancenter since 2009. Over the years she has taken ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop and Latin and joined DBDC in 2023. She’s graduating with the highest honors from Harbor High School where she took IB classes and played soccer all four years. She also developed a passion for ceramics in high school and hopes to continue in college. In the Fall, Amelia will be attending Cal State Monterey Bay where she will be studying Psychology and dancing with the MB Otter Dance Team. Congrats Amelia!

Senior Spotlight! Say hi to Ronja!! Ronja has been dancing at Dancenter since she was 5 years old and she has been a Company dancer for eight years. Through the years she has studied all the dance styles offered at Dancenter, and she is particularly fond of tap. In the fall, Ronja will attend Smith College as a STRIDE scholar, intending to study mathematics and music. We can’t wait to see what the future brings Ronja!
